I hope i can get a good bait for garoupa.
i assume you mean grouper well the best thing to catch them on is a trolled lure on the back of a slow moving boat anything long and bright in color should do it fished in a team with other lures of a similar nature

Really depends where you’re fishing. The grouper I’ve caught (20-30 pounds, off Baja California) bit 10-12 inch live mackerel. I’ve seen some larger ones (up to 90 pounds) taken using small live skipjack or yellowfin tuna (4-5 pounders).
So my suggestion would be small fish, live if possible.

Grouper or Hapuka as we call them in the Pacific Islands are a bottom dwelling ambush predator.
They love a Live Squid or Mackerel dropped down deep. 300+ meters

Live bait such as squid, sardines and mackerel work better than most lures. However, the new Shimano "butterfly" jigs show great promise in getting out those big fish that live down deep.

Grouper offshore:
1. Any type of live pinfish in a 6-8" size.
2. Various 6-8 inch "strips" of dead fish hooked on a 3-5 OZ jighead.
3. Medium-sized fish-head on a circle-hook.
4. Various trolled hardplastic Rapala-type lures.
5. Live & dead squid/octopuss does work great too!
A Jig-Ballyhoo-stripped rig is excellent for Grouper. And you just can’t beat a live 6-8" pinfish on a circle hook!
Hope this helps? Good luck!

You can check out my web site, http://flafin.blogspot.com , to get advice on catching what ever type of saltwater fish you are after. I have daily reports from fishing guides all over Florida along with maps to all of the public saltwater boat ramps in the state.
