A fisherman yanks a fish out of the water with an acceleration of 4.9 m/s2 using a very light Fishing Line that has a "test" value of 27 N. The fisherman unfortunately loses the fish as the line snaps. What is the minimum mass of the fish?
27/(g + a) = min mass
27/(9.8 + 4.9) = 1.83 kg
The beautiful Keys prove to be too much for the girls as they lounge by the pool. Only Aquaman can draw them away for some good old fishing.

I put some large treble hooks on my wife’s used Tampons and they worked well for bass.

What Kind of Fishing Line is best for a baitcasting reel? and how many Lbs?
Braided Superline? Monofilament? Fluorocarbon?
10? 12? 20? 30? 40? 50? 65?
That is strictly a preference issue. You have to experiment to find out what works best for you.
In my opinion, Baitcasters work best with line diameters ranging from 10LB and UP, (12-17LB being about perfect).
Most of my Baitcaster’s have 14LB diameter Mono line spooled up with a leader of Flurocarbon. With a leader of Fluro, (and a Mono mainline), I get the best of all worlds……this works well for me.
I save the Braid for heavy duty, high abrasion, area’s for "Flippin" and fishing HEAVY weeds & wood structure/rip rap. However, the diameter of my line still stays around 10-12LB when using braid.
Here are some general rules I use with line-
1. Always use Mono for any Topwater fishing. Mono "floats" higher than Braid or Fluro and is easier to manage when using lures that float.
2. Try to use a line diameter bigger than 10-12LB if your new to B-casting. Larger diameter lines are MUCH easier to manage & cast than smaller lines; esp when your learning.
3. When your choosing lures remember that Braid and Fluro sink quicker than Mono. So, if you want a lure to "fall slowly", (and stay in the strike zone longer), Mono would be a better choice.
Otherwise, try various brands and line types until you find one YOU like.
Hope this helps ya? Good luck.

Going fishing at a local lake in East Texas. One of the lures I like to use is called the tiny torpedo. The tiny torpedo is excellent for top water fishing. Distributed by Tubemogul.

It was an epic day of fun and sun. Had the pleasure of fishing with the Wildwood (Craig Wood) today at Lake Del Valle in Livermore, CA. The fishing was great and the catching awesome with limits brought home for the dinner table. I might add the trout were very tasty as my wife cook up a nice meal and shared some with friends. We were using Berkley sparkle chartreuse Power Bait with Shelton self releasing hook and TadPole™. We fished in several areas including the narrows, and the two large bays. We had most action by pulling boat up on points and fishing from the back of the boat. We arrive at dawn and were off the water by noon. To find out how the amazing self releasing hook works and to see the animation of release action go to http://www.sheltonproducts.com/sheltonrelease.html

Since you aren’t breaking off hooks in fish and with the TadPole snagless weights, not breaking off in rocks, you get in more fishing time because you are not down re-rigging so that gives you more time with your bait in the water and you improve your catch. This is especially important when you have kids, as you will not spend all of your time re-rigging them. It is especially a good feeling seeing them swim away. Berkley Power Bait and these hooks and TadPole make one of the most effective trout bait rig there is. Catch and keep, no problem, you get the hook out instantly, and catch and release couldn’t be easier. Regarding self releasing hooks. They are design to release fish without touching them. Basically how they work is the eye of the hook is at the bend of the hook and the leader line goes through a flexible plastic sleeve that goes over leader line and when the sleeve is slid down over the shank of the hook it is set and fish just like a regular fishhook. The sleeve has a second line tied to the top of this and parallels the main leader line and is attach by a sliding 3 turn uniknot tied with thread. When you slid the red knot up by pinching it or using a pocket comb it slides the sleeve up and the hook rotates and self releases.
